Half-year report: Jude Weston, Director
As we enter the second half of the year, we’re taking a look back on the first six months in the commercial property world by asking our team how they’ve seen the market.
This week, it’s the turn of Jude Weston, Director.
What’s your name and speciality at NG?
Jude Weston, Asset Management Surveyor
How was the first six months of the year in commercial property for you?
Incredibly busy, particularly fuelled with new instructions we are working on, but generally we have found the day job has got much busier.
What trends are you seeing emerging?
I manage properties within the main sector groups. In particular we are seeing more movement in the office market as businesses continue to reassess their operational requirements. Secondary retail locations continue to be competitive and supported. Industrial properties are fairing well, but it really comes down to the occupier and their trading strength. We are finding more businesses have gone into administration/liquidation this quarter period.
What are the biggest opportunities and challenges facing those with a property portfolio at present?
Retention of tenants and maintaining Service charges at a competitive level which still ensures statutory compliance and a good standard of environment.
How do you see the second half of the year progressing?
I believe it will continue to be time intensive given the challenges we are facing in the economy. We always work hard to supply the very best service to our clients, and this requires a great deal of time and dedication in ensuring we are meeting their expectations fully.
