Walking 234 miles together for Juno Women's Aid this May!

Three of our wonderful leading ladies at NG Chartered Surveyors: Jude Weston, Charlotte Steggles and Alicia Lewis are joining local charity Juno Women’s Aid in their ‘Steps to Survive’ initiative.

The Steps to Survive fundraiser is run every year between the 1st and 31st of May, with those taking part challenged to walk 39 miles within the month, the distance that survivors of domestic abuse travel to find their freedom. 

So inspired by the charity and the importance of their incredible work, our NG ladies are embarking on a mission during May to walk double the distance—covering 78 miles each and equally 234 miles together —to raise essential funds for Juno.

We asked our Director Jude what it means to her to be involved in such a crucial initiative “It’s incredibly important to help organisations such as Juno Women’s Aid. Charlotte, Alicia and I are raising awareness of the average distance two survivors of domestic abuse must travel to reach safety and freedom: 78 miles.

“We hope the funds we raise in May will help Juno Women’s Aid to continue the vital work they do on behalf of women.”

It’s important that we continue to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the true impacts it has on Women and their children.”

Juno Women’s Aid is based in the Heathcote Buildings in Hockley, Nottingham – a premises that NG is privileged to manage.

In 2022-2023, Juno worked with 2,726 women, 472 children and young people, fostered 56 pets, and received nearly 16,000 calls on its helpline. It supports 500-600 women and children in Nottingham and south Nottinghamshire at any one time.

Its domestic abuse services include a drop-in service; refuge provision, specialist one-to-one and community outreach support for women, children and young people; justice team support through civil and criminal court proceedings, group work programs and access to Nottingham College training and education.
